Overwhelmed with surprise

November 27, 2009

Out of the blue, I recently received a package in the mail from one of my 2009 Wedding couples.  I started wondering, what could it be…what could it be?  As soon as I opened it, there was a Thank You note lying on top which I couldn’t wait to read:

“Dear Sue,
Thank you so much for doing such a beautiful job with our Wedding photos!  You really captured the day and we will cherish these pictures forever.  Our family and friends were so impressed with your work – you are so talented, expect to be hearing from us about future family portraits!  Thank you for making this such a special day for us!”

~Erin and Brent

I am so lucky and blessed to be a Wedding photographer; there is no better place to be than behind the lens watching love and happiness flourish all around me.
I continued to open the box, and found two birch candle holders in there … the same ones that were adorned throughout their Wedding reception.  It was so incredibly thoughtful for them to share this special detail of their Wedding with me … I have always had a love for birch wood and I was so drawn to the details of this Wedding…and now I have a special memento from their celebration.

Here is a sample of birch /bicycle pictures from their Wedding day:

THANK YOU Erin and Brent for thinking of me, and for this lovely gift … Your Wedding was beautiful, and I am thrilled to hear how much you’ve enjoyed your pictures.
Cherish them always.

sigh :( My last Wedding of the 2009 season …BUT it sure was a fun way to end it! I absolutely adore Melissa and was so happy when they chose me to photograph their special day. She’s a hoot … full of energy, laughter, and giggles…lots and lots of giggles. Andrew is quiet and reserved, steady and true. They compliment each other perfectly. I was so excited when I first saw Melissa where she was getting ready. She was beaming and giggling and could not wait to get into her dress. Her accessories were so cool too…she had a beautiful crystal hair piece, vintage style which matched her sequin shoes. She had a pair of heels, AND flats in the same style…great idea! I loved her other pair of shoes that she wore to her rehearsal dinner too…they had skulls on them! All the details for their Wedding were very tasteful…not overdone in theme. So once the dress was on, and all laced up, they headed to the church. I arrived earlier so I could photograph Andrew getting ready with his groomsmen… the guests started to pile in and hug Andrew on the way to their seats. Shortly after, the limo arrived, and Melissa was rushed off to the ‘secret’ room. :) She never stopped smiling…ever. The ceremony was beautiful…they wrote their own vows to each other which is always very emotional and sacred. I had a tricky time photographing the ring exchange because the priest stood in the center aisle in FRONT of them…blocking everyone’s view. That’s always a difficult situation …and you have to be quick on your toes to find another location while carrying your tripod to get those shots. Phew, found one! :) Once they were pronounced husband and wife, the guests clapped, they kissed, and they were on their way down the aisle.
We headed to Mendon Ponds for the bridal party pictures. Man, it was WINDY that day…wow! But Melissa had a long veil so it was great for pictures. The bridesmaids were troopers hanging out in the cold for a little bit. I photographed quickly so they could get back in the warm limo. Thanks ladies! :)
After the park, we went to the Fairport Gazebo for a few more pictures because they’re from the town and it has meaning to them. The great thing about the day was that we never felt rushed…even me…I had such a great time hanging out with them, and I couldn’t wait for the party to begin either! We were just steps away after that…the reception was at the Green Lantern Inn…it even looks like a Haunted House from the outside…neat!
Black and white was the color theme, with splashes of maroon. The favors were feathered masks…so much fun for pictures! They had a fabulous candy bar setup too…eyeball gumballs, candy corn, twizzlers…all sorts of stuff. The Corpse Bride was another theme used which was a lot of fun. Let the party begin! :)
I had an amazing time and I will never forget it ~ thank you Melissa and Andrew for inviting me into your celebration! Congratulations!!
