I first met and photographed Sarah & Chad for their Wedding a few years ago which is still one of my favorite Weddings I’ve had the opportunity to photograph.  I absolutely adore them and admire their family so much ~ they’re so unified and connected and I remember how great it felt to be around them at their reception at the Rabbit Room in Honeyoe Falls.  It was the perfect setting for this sweet and intimate group of people.

They moved shortly after their Wedding to another state where they were blessed with their first child Hannah.   When Sarah’s mom got in touch with me to photograph her parents 60th Wedding Anniversary, I was so excited because I would get to see their baby girl, Chad, and Sarah with a new baby on the way too ~ along with all the rest of the family!

This is one of the amazing things I love about photography – besides the craft itself, we are invited into the lives of families and then welcomed back for more milestone events to capture the heirlooms for them to pass down to generations.  It truly is an honor.

Sarah and Chad wanted to have their family portrait taken in the Fall, in the park.  When I first saw their new baby, I instantly teared up.  He was so beautiful, so small and precious.  It reminded me how fleeting time is too.  I had a baby this year, and now that she’s sitting up and crawling around, it’s so easy to forget how delicate they once were.  Thank GOODNESS for pictures to bring us back into that time of our lives.  I don’t ever want to forget those moments with my baby bundle, no one does.  I’m so happy to provide these beautiful pictures for Sarah and Chad to look back on for their lifetime together.

Congratulations on your beautiful happy family Sarah and Chad ~ SO happy for you guys!!

Just when I thought I had photographed my last High School senior ~ I had the exciting opportunity to hang out with one more!  Knowing Michael, I had already imagined where I wanted to take him for his portraits.  Bricks and graffiti was the perfect back drop for this angst ridden teen..  (but we all know how adorable he is … we’ll just keep that a secret for now.  ;)   )

Thanks for letting me feel like a kid again Mike!  I see so much of myself in you and I can tell you that it’s awesome to grow up and find your way in this world.  I know you’re going to do great…but above all, just be happy.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Congratulations on your Senior year Michael ~ SO proud of you!

As many of you know, I am the Programs Chair (Vice President) for the Greater Rochester Professional Photographers.   Every month for this year I’ve planned our meetings; typically inviting speakers for presentations, but this time, I took them on a wine tasting photographic field trip!  After all, we live in the Finger Lakes, it’s Autumn, there are vineyards everywhere, and we’re photographers.   Hands on learning, experimentation, and visiting with each other while sharing tips, and tricks.  We’re so lucky to have each other as both professionals and friends and that we all want each other to succeed and do our very best jobs for the wonderful people who choose us individually.

For the most part, especially now that I have a baby girl, I rarely get out and about because I’m so busy working, or tending to her.  I was so happy to be outside on this trip more than anything…just feeling the sun on my face, and the warm breeze.  We couldn’t have asked for better weather.  I also don’t get the chance very often to photograph landscapes so that was my focus for most of the day.  Here are a few that remind me of how much beauty is in our world ~ and how much it reminds me why Autumn is my favorite time of year.

Please go visit our lakes when you can ~ we’re so lucky to live here!  This particular trip was taken on the West side of beautiful and wonderfully scenic, Keuka Lake.  Thank you to all the wineries ~ each one was amazing and unique and we’re so excited to share our images with them!

Enjoy!
