Archive for May, 2011

As I laid my head down to sleep last night, and all the images from the weekend flashed through my mind, all I could think about was how LUCKY we were to experience it all.   I am forever grateful to our heroic Armed Forces for their protection, and dedication to our freedom as a country.  If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have all these wonderful photos, now memories, of time spent with my cherished family.

I was also thinking about THEIR loved ones and family; and how much they are missed when they’re gone,  gallantly serving for our freedom.

Where are THEIR pictures and memories?

This in turn, reminded me again, how excited I am as the President of the Greater Rochester Professional Photographers, to be providing a complimentary portrait day for our Veterans.  It’s the very least we can do, but is the most treasured thing we could give them; giving of ourselves as photographers for them and their families to be remembered beautifully too.

So, THANK YOU Armed forces AND your families from the bottom of my heart for another amazing holiday weekend that was spent surrounded by loved ones.  Eternally grateful.

So, this was Kayla’s first visit to the beach…first sand, and first waves!  We were so excited…until she started crying hysterically.  :(   Apparently babies aren’t very big fans of sitting in grass, or walking in sand, or having waves come up to their feet.  We tried to play with her a little bit, but it just wasn’t going to happen.

We’re learning that a little exposure to things here and there is totally fine, and that she will eventually get used to it.  For example, around Easter was when she first experienced grass…now at the end of May, she’s a pro and you can barely keep up with her as she runs around the yard.  :)

I’m sure the beach will be the same eventually too. ;)

She’s never ever hugged me this tight before…poor thing!  (Thanks to my husband for this picture!)

Ok sweetie….time to go! ♥

The next day, we spent at a splash park (Pineway Ponds in Specerport and it was awesome!) ~ another first and she was just as scared at this one too.  In her defense, the water was pretty cold!  She was a trooper though, and look how cute!

Playing with her cousin ~ who wouldn’t love getting Kayla’s kisses! :D   They’re so cute together!

I would love to take pictures like these for you too!  Enjoy your day and I’ll capture it for you.  Thanks for stopping by ~ Happy Summer!

I have been working on and off with my fabulous web designer (and husband!) for the past few months on my new site and I’m so excited to say that we’re about to launch!

Just a few more tweaks and fixes, and we’ll be live!  It’s been a long time coming, I know.  Thankfully, I’ve had many compliments on my existing site on it’s ease of navigation, and dedication to the galleries due to it’s simplistic display.

It’s so easy to get caught up in all the fun bells and whistles available to websites out there, but many times, they just end up being a distraction from the work.  My images are what I want to shine, not the website.  But, at the same time, they need to compliment each other which is what I believe my new one will do much better.

This is just the home page for now; I’ve gone with a full screen design and drop down menus; clean, easy, and once again, focusing on my gallery of work.  And, some of you know I recently chose the iPhone as my new phone when my old one stopped working…and if you have one, you know that it doesn’t show Flash sites.  It’s so sad that I can’t see my own site on my phone!  Not for long!

Stay tuned! :D

Happy Mothers Day!

May 9, 2011

Give a photographer a day to herself, and she spends it taking pictures of her own little one.   :)

“Little baby up in heaven says to God
“Do I really have to go?”
God replies, “yes it’s your time to leave
but don’t you worry, you won’t be there alone
You see there’s someone who’s been waiting for you
Quietly hoping and praying
for your sweet and safe arrival
down on earth…”

“As you grow and make your way on through the world
she’ll be a softer light to guide you on your way
instilling bits of wisdom like arrows in your quiver
to help with all the challenges that you’ll have to face
rest assured no matter where you are
you’ll be surrounded by her love
a gentle support to help you keep your faith
you’re always in her heart and who she’s thinking of…”

“The sacrifices that she will make
to put you first when everything’s at stake
how all that she’s devoted
until now you never noticed
she was showing you
how to be a guardian angel too.”

Happy Mothers Day to all the heroic mom’s out there; if I thought I knew what it meant to be a mom before,
I certainly have a better understanding now.

You are loved, you are beautiful, and most of all,

You are appreciated!

:D

It didn’t take long before she let me know how much she didn’t like the feeling of grass!  LOL  Every time her hand touched it, she lost it.  :)   Note to self, mow the lawn!
