Emily & Ken ♥ Engaged! ♥ {Rochester, NY Ellwanger Garden}

Sometimes, things just work out perfectly. First, I met with Emily and Ken and it had to be one of my most relaxed, easy going client meetings ever. Easy breezy, adorable. Then, when it came time to schedule the Engagement session, we talked about backdrops that they liked…as I suggest to all my couples. Architecture, waterfalls, parks, city, cafes…etc. When they suggested a garden, I immediately thought of the George Eastman House…UNTIL they asked for it NOT to be there. LOL I’m so glad they asked for something else because it really made me research our possibilities. As I searched my mind, and Google…I came across a historical garden maintained by our Landmark Society. It just so happened that the Ellwanger Garden is only open to the public ONCE a year. AND, my weeks Wedding was on a Friday, so we could actually GO to the garden while it was open on Saturday ~ SO lucky!

If you missed it this year, make plans now to see it next year when they open it again. It’s SO beautiful, lush, and adorned with colorful blooms everywhere. Mostly Peonies!♥

I love to see what ‘accessories’ my couples decide to bring with them…it’s always a surprise for me and it’s always perfectly matched to their personalities. Look how sweet…they brought sun hats, and a classic guitar! We were serenaded in a garden! ♥

I couldn’t be happier for this super sweet couple as they plan for their Wedding day this Summer at the incredible Hurd Orchards. Have fun you two ~ can’t wait ’til the Big Day!

Shanna & Steven’s Big Day! {Rabbit Room/The Lower Mill Wedding Photographer)

After just having experienced a major heat wave of over 90 degrees here in Rochester…just 2 days later, on Shanna and Steven’s Wedding day, it was a perfect 70 degrees with a little sun, a little shade, and a lotta LOVE! ♥

I got to see beautiful Shanna getting ready with her girls as we all anticipated the celebration to come. Truly, I had no idea how this party was about to get started.

Look how beautiful! The girls from Special Occasions Hair Design did an amazing job; so professional, talented, and sweet!

Before long, we were all off to the Rabbit Room and we couldn’t wait! I’ll never forget the first time I was chosen to photograph there, and ever since, it’s always a treat. Besides being incredibly unique and natural, the food is above and beyond. There is no description that could possibly do the deliciousness justice. Take your sweetie, and go; you will be amazed.

So, we arrived and quickly made our way upstairs to finish getting ready.

T minus 15 minutes before the ceremony ~ off to find Steven! I knew we were going to have some fun when I saw the Best Man in a Vintage velvet suit! (to our surprise later in the evening, he revealed his t-shirt underneath which read ‘party animal’ )

There were these 2 adorable brothers dressed in newsboy type attire and I just loved it when this little guy popped out into the aisle for a peek during the ceremony~ so cute!

Time to bustle, we’re headed to the Honeoye Falls!

All the gorgeous flowers were perfectly designed by Rockcastle Florist. They even hung evergreen bows above the porch at the Rabbit Room, incredible!

Ladybug & Daisy Smash Cake for baby’s First Birthday!

Yes, I know! We celebrated my baby’s First Birthday a few months ago…with lots of friends and family. I kept meaning to do a little photo shoot after the party just with Kayla and her cake and finally got around to it. At least she’s not 2 yet!

It took me a little longer too because I just wasn’t finding a bakery to work with. Horrible customer service was the culprit. Sure, lots of bakeries can make nice cakes…but where’s the excitement, the thankfulness that I chose to call them? It’s the same in my line of business. How many photographers are there in Rochester? Tons. At least I know when you get in touch with me, I’m excited, and so thankful you found me. Professional and courteous customer service is a must.

So…thank goodness I finally found a baker. They went above and beyond to help me, and they were excited for my cake too!
The cake turned out better than I could have imagined, in design, AND taste. They have a customer for life now and all it took was some personal attention, professional advice, and an amazing product.

When you need a special cake or baked good, I highly recommend Deb at Gourmet Goodies! Delish!

Should I be worried that she went for the ladybugs head first?

Geez….if it were ME diving into that cake, I sure would be a lot happier! I think I timed it too close to nap time. This first year sure has been a learning experience on photographing babies. FYI, whenever you see a cute baby picture…it was REALLY hard to get that and took probably a hundred tries. Completely worth it of course ♥

Go figure….she’s crying in her crib through the baby monitor as I am putting this post together. I’ll be right there sweetie! ♥
